Reducir costos o estar enfocados, he ahí la cuestión...

Que opina Jobs sobre la reducción de costos:

“The cure for Apple is not cost-cutting. The cure for Apple is to innovate its way out of its current predicament.” Apple Confidential: The Real Story of Apple Computer

Lo que opina Taichi Ohno (creador del sistema de producción Toyota)...

"Ohno did not invest so much effort in reducing the setup times in order to gain some cost savings. If saving cost would have been his target he would  For example, Toyota's die changes went from two to three hours in the 1940's to less than one hour and as low as 15 minutes in the 1950’s to 3 minutes in the 1960's (Ohno wrote this in his book, Toyota Production System).not have ‘wasted’ the time saved by further reducing the batches and therefore doing much more setups. Ohno did not try to reduce the number of defective parts in order to save some (trivial) costs; he did it to eliminate the major disruptions to flow that result from having a defective part. Ohno did not even try to squeeze better prices from Toyota suppliers or to cut the payroll of Toyota (the two main elements of cost); rather he put all his energy into improving the flow".

En otras palabras, mejorar el tiempo de entrega.

¿Qué nos enseñan tradicionalmente en la escuela?
-Contabilidad de costos...
-Reducción de costos...

Etc...

¿Quién tendrá la razón?
